UFLA and its Scientific development in areas of Biotechnology and upland rice (March 2024)

The Fondation Ondjyla met with the Federal University of Lavras (UFLA) in Minas Gerais with the purpose of learning about the history and scientific development that UFLA has been undertaking, particularly in the areas of Biotechnology and the development of upland rice, as well as its team of researchers, particularly Professors Alison Polinelli and Alfredo Lopes, who have been at the forefront of the Brazilian agricultural revolution.

This visit allowed for a better understanding of Brazil's remarkable transformation into one of the world's largest exporters, significantly improving the country's food security and how these initiatives can be adopted in a knowledge transfer based on South-South cooperation.
